In 2015, the Faculty Senate and Board of Trustees approved a revised core curriculum to be implemented beginning with freshmen and transfer students entering for fall 2016. Please note that the information provided below is subject to change and may not apply to every student as there are substitutions and exceptions made for some majors.

Must be taken unless proficiency is met as defined by a minimum SAT score of 640 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Section or a minimum score of 29 on the ACT English Test. This requirement is met only with a grade of C- or better.
Plus one of the following courses (if a student’s SAT/ACT scores exempts them from taking ENG 101, then both of the following courses must be completed):

Engineering Majors: ECO 270 Principles of Microeconomics (Group A) and plus one course from either Group B or Group C
or
Chemical Engineering Majors: ECO 270 only (not required to take a Group B or C course)
** Fulfillment of Group C by a study abroad experience necessitates completion of 3 credits in the history and/or culture of the country or region in which the student is studying. Students should consult with Core Studies Dept. chair for course approval.
